Volunteer opportunities
IDE-UK is currently in need of the following volunteer positions:
i) A Program Fellow to work alongside our staff to help manage, maintain and improve our monitoring and management of our programme in Ethiopia;
ii) A Communications Fellow to work alongside our staff to help manage, maintain and improve our communications with supporters and helpers regarding our overseas development projects;
iii) A Trusts & Fundraising Fellow to work alongside our staff to help manage, maintain and improve our fundraising activities particularly in relation to UK based trusts.
Key responsibilities of each role are outlined below:
Program Fellow
Title: Program Fellow
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Location: IDE-UK Golders Green office / at home
Hours: 10 Hours per week minimum Minimum Commitment: 3 months
Key
Function: Work alongside IDE-UK staff to help manage, maintain and improve our
monitoring and management of our programme in Ethiopia
Key tasks:
1. Support the IDE-UK Chief Executive in establishing and building
relations with Ethiopia country programmes;
2. Help maintain and build
good, smooth and timely communication with the Ethiopia programme;
3. Help
ensure that appropriate and timely reports are received from the Ethiopia
program on progress against work objectives;
4. Help prepare sections of
IDE-UK reports to funders regarding the Ethiopia programme;
5. Help build
the capacity and knowledge of IDE-UK's London office of the Ethiopia
programme, including assisting to document programme activities and results.
Communications Fellow
Title:
Communications Fellow
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Location: IDE-UK
Golders Green office / at home
Hours: 10 Hours per week minimum
Minimum
Commitment: 3 months
Key Function: Work alongside IDE-UK staff to help
manage, maintain and improve our communications with supporters and helpers
regarding our overseas development projects.
Key tasks:
1. Support
the IDE-UK Chief Executive in building and expanding IDE-UK communications
function;
2. Help manage, maintain and improve the organizational website;
3. Help manage the process to improve the organizational website through
the reworking of written materials and the utilization of new technologies
such as video material;
4. Help suggest further improvements to the
organizational communication strategy, in particular regular electronic
materials that go to IDE-UK supporters;
5. Help establish and build a bank
of information and case studies regarding IDE-UK development programmes.
Trusts & Fundraising Fellow
Title: Trusts & Fundraising Fellow
Reporting to: Chief
Executive
Location: IDE-UK Golders Green office / at home
Hours: 10 Hours per
week minimum
Minimum Commitment: 3 months
Key Function: Work
alongside IDE-UK staff to help manage, maintain and improve our fundraising
activities particularly in relation to UK based trusts.
Key tasks:
1. Support the IDE-UK Chief Executive in expanding and improving IDE-UK
fundraising capacity;
2. Help maintain relations with and respond to
requests from UK based trusts;
3. Help prepare trust applications as
appropriate for both UK core activities and overseas programme costs;
4.
Help maintain IDE-UK's records on trust applications;
5. Help manage
IDE-UK presence at a limited number of public fundraising activities over
summer;
6. Help manage and develop IDE-UK communications to individual
donors
Specific descriptions of each role can be provided on
request. Ideal opportunities for anyone looking to gain experience in the
development field post university or masters degree. As a volunteer you should
be able to offer at least 10 hours per week and commit for at least three
